A typical Muay Thai workout would consist of a warm-up and shadow boxing, stretching, bag work, pad work, and some light calisthenics and abdominal strengthening, ending with light cool-down and stretching.
The warm-up would usually consist of a light jog for 20mins or some skipping rope for 3-5rounds of 5mins per round. Dynamic stretching will follow to further limber up the body and improve flexibility.
Stretching will be followed by shadow boxing to practice the weapons used in Muay Thai. Boxing would only use the fist as a weapon for striking an opponent, however, modern Thai boxers have an arsenal of eight weapons to choose from: fists, elbows, knees and feet. While it may be possible for a Muay Thai boxer to win a particular fight using exclusively just one of the weapons available to him, by properly mastering the use of each of his weapons he will be able to confidently face any opponent.
